Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Monday in an evening video speech that Russia continues to play with international structures and is once again brazen by requesting a UN Security Council to discuss the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant in Enerhodar.
Earlier on Monday Russia’s deputy ambassador to the United Nations, Dmitry Poljanski, announced that his country had asked the UN Security Council to convene a meeting on the nuclear power plant in Enerhodar on Tuesday.
The blows of the Russian artillery are simply impossible to count, there are so many of them, they are so intense. At the same time, the terrorist state continues to play with international structures and once again has the audacity to convene the UN Security Council to discuss its own provocations, its own terror in Zaporizhia Zelenskiy said.
On Sunday, the Ukrainian military intelligence informed that the Russian occupiers may be getting ready to disconnect the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant from the Ukrainian power grid, as evidenced by, inter alia, sending Ukrainian workers on vacation. A contingent of Russian troops with large amounts of weapons and ammunition still remains in the gym.
The Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant in southern Ukraine was seized by Russian forces in early March. Russian soldiers are stationed on the premises. However, the Ukrainian company Enerhoatom informed in May that Ukrainian personnel are responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the facility.
For weeks, the Ukrainian side has been accusing Russia of artillery shelling in the vicinity and on the premises of the power plant. Experts and international organizations warn of a possible nuclear threat.
