Weather to anger Putin. The temperature record favors the European economy

Meteorologists indicate that there has not been such a warm autumn for a long time. As reported by the World Meteorological Organization, Europe has the hottest October in history with temperatures higher on average by 2 degrees C compared to the average for the years 1991-2020.

Such high temperatures affected fall in gas prices, stored earlier in a hurry before the heating season. The extraordinary heat is evidence of the climate turmoil, but at the same time, it weakens the energy blackmail on the part of Russia.

On Monday, at the end of the day, natural gas in the Dutch TTF hub in December contracts fell by 3.21 percent, to EUR 110.10 per MWh. The price of natural gas in January contracts also fell – by 2.08 percent, to EUR 121.04 per MWh. This is far from the August records, when quotations even exceeded EUR 300 per MWh. Even Tuesday’s increases to EUR 115.25 per MWh and EUR 124.21 per MWh, respectively, did not change the situation.
