War in Ukraine. Colonel Maciej Matysiak on TVN24 about Russia’s goals
It seems that the goal of the administration of President Vladimir Putin is to lead to the destruction of Ukraine, the suspension of international support for Kiev and a temporary quasi-peace, Colonel Maciej Matysiak, an expert of the Stratpoints foundation, said on TVN24 on Sunday.
– Ukrainians are better in reconnaissance, maneuverability, they have more determination. The question is whether the Russians will be able to weaken support for Ukrainethat its capacity will decline. Secondly, is the mobilization of Russia will effectively strengthen the Russian defense – said reserve colonel Maciej Matysiak, an expert of the Stratpoints foundation, on TVN24. As he added, “the Russians practically went to the defense.”
“It seems that the goal of President Putin’s administration is to maintain the status quo, to lead to the destruction of Ukraine, the lack of support and a temporary quasi-peace, a truce,” he said.
Air-raid alert in Ukraine
On Sunday morning, Ukrainian media reported that an anti-aircraft alert was declared throughout the country. Some sources report the launch of Russian MIG fighters from the territory Belarus.
– There will be quite a lot of such information about the mobilization of Russian or Belarusian forces from the territory of Belarus, in order to involve Ukrainian troops in a potential threat from this direction. In addition, there will be a lot of such incidents, provocations that we have seen, including violations of territorial waters in the Baltic Sea, airspace, or entering the economic sphere of countries FOR THIS – predicted Colonel Matysiak.
Two “essential goals” of Russia
In his opinion, Russia has “two main goals”. – The first is the destruction of the energy and critical infrastructure, i.e. leading the Ukrainian society to nuisance and inefficiency, including economic inefficiency. The second is the use of Ukraine’s anti-aircraft and anti-missile defenses, which would enable the operation of the Russian air force, which is currently practically at zero activity, he said.
He noted that “it is easier for the Russians to buy missiles and drones than to produce planes.” “Therefore, without overpowering Ukraine’s anti-aircraft and anti-missile defenses, there is no point in talking about further Russian actions in the air,” he added.
As the expert said, in this war, “apart from artillery, logistics reigns.” – Whoever is more efficient economically, logistically, faster, more efficient will be successful – he assessed.
