Ukraine wants peace talks. Kuleba, however, puts a condition on Russia
The Ukrainian foreign minister indicated that UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres could be an intermediary in the peace talks. — He has proven to be an effective mediator and negotiator, and most importantly, a man of principles and values. We would welcome his active role,” Kuleba noted in an interview with the AP, which was published on Monday evening.
The head of Ukrainian diplomacy stressed that his country wants the war to end and Kyiv will do everything it can to win it in 2023. – Every war ends in a diplomatic way. Every war ends as a result of actions on the battlefield and at the negotiating table, he added.
In his opinion, a “peace summit” organized with the participation of the UN in the next two months should be a step in this direction. However, the participation of the Russians in these talks, Kuleba makes it conditional on “moving Moscow to accountability for war crimes before an international tribunal” – reports the AP.
“Only then can they be invited,” noted the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
Kuleba in an interview with the Associated Press also referred to Patriot systems that the Americans will soon deliver to Ukraine. Their delivery was announced a few days ago in time Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to the United States.
The minister announced that the Patriots were to operate on the territory of Ukraine “definitely sooner than in six months.” Normally, training soldiers to use the system takes about a year.
Kuleba revealed that the Americans have prepared a special, accelerated training program that Ukrainian soldiers are to undergo outside their country. “It won’t have any negative effects on the quality of weapons used on the battlefield,” he assured.
