The war does not pay off for Moscow. The EU “thanked” Russia for the gas. The Kremlin is starting to feel the effects

The head of Gazprom Alexei Miller announced that in 2022, the volume of exported gas will amount to 100.9 billion cubic meters.

Due to the aggression against Ukraine, Russia has lost its most important gas market, the European Union. Exports to Germany, the EU’s largest economy, were cut short in September after explosions destroyed the Nord Stream gas pipeline; NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called the explosions an act of sabotage.

However, Russia has increased exports of liquefied natural gas (LNG). According to the Russian statistical office Rosstat, from January to November 2022, LNG production increased by nearly 10 percent.

In addition, Moscow managed to compensate for the fall in gas sales to Europe thanks to higher prices of energy resources, and budget revenues from their sale increased from January to October by more than a third – reports Reuters.
