The Ministry of Finance intends to implement soon another tool tightening the tax system and adding additional revenues to the state budget. This time for the crosshair takes internet commercenamely those who do business on e-commerce, but do not register their business activity and avoid taxes.

According to “Puls Biznesu”, the Ministry of Finance is just finishing work on the draft act on tax reporting obligations of digital platforms. It is to be adopted by the Council of Ministers by the end of the year at the latest.

Reporting obligation

The Act will impose on digital platforms (eg Allegro, OLX, Amazon, Booking) the obligation to report sales carried out through them. It is about turnover from trade in goods, rental of real estate and vehicles, parking spaces, as well as transports (e.g. Uber) or personally provided services.

The National Revenue Administration (that is, de facto, the Ministry of Finance) will receive information about who trades with what, what they rent, what services they provide, what turnover is achieved, and what accounts the earned money goes to. Tax officials will analyze this data in order to detect tax-free business activity.
