The Stellantis factory in Gliwice will not start the third shift. At least for now
The Gliwice factory producing delivery trucks of the Stellantis concern was to launch the third shift in November 2022. However, this will not happen. All because of the growing economic crisis.
The Stellantis factory in Gliwice, operating so far in a two-shift system, was getting ready to implement the third shift. Its seed was to be 100 trained employees. Unfortunately, contrary to earlier plans, they will not stand by the tapes.
– The reasons for this decision stem from a very deep economic crisis, which is constantly gaining momentum and has a devastating effect on the industry and global markets, including automotive markets, additionally broken by the lack of parts for production and interrupted supply chains – says factory spokeswoman Agnieszka Brania, quoted by the Polish Press Agency (PAP).
Currently, the plants employ about 1.8 thousand. people, of which 1.3 thous. in the production itself. This number was to be enriched by another 100 employees employed by two temporary work agencies. They have been trained by the Stellantis, but will not find any work there yet.
– Several companies have already declared their willingness to accept them. This week, meetings with employees are held in order to present them the possibilities and terms of employment – said Agnieszka Brania.
Stellantis also undertook to pay this group additional cash benefits. Depending on the end date of the contract, it will be one additional monthly salary or base salary for November, informs PAP.
At the moment it is difficult to say when the third shift will be launched. But it certainly won’t happen this year. It all depends on the further development of the market and economic situation.
