Ukrainian troops took over the Orlan-10 reconnaissance unmanned aerial system in the transport crate during a rapid counteroffensive in eastern Ukraine. They published photos with the trophy they won on the Internet.

Volunteer of the Ukrainian military service Pavel Kashchuk, known for his analysis of the components of Russian military equipment, published photos that show the Russian unmanned aerial vehicle Orlan-10 packed in a carrying container and taken by Ukrainian soldiers from Russian soldiers.

The reconnaissance unmanned aerial system, which was left behind by the fleeing Russian soldiers, was assigned to the 15th Aviation Brigade of the Russian Federation. This is the first time that Ukrainian soldiers have handed over a full complex of a Russian drone along with a ground control segment and full technical documentation.

Orlan-10 is a Russian medium-range multi-role unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) developed by the Special Technology Center (STC) in St. Petersburg for the Russian armed forces. The unmanned aerial vehicle has a take-off weight of approx. 14 kg and can operate at altitudes of up to 5,000. m. The range of the drone is estimated at approx. 100 km (with the video signal being 20 km greater).

The entire set, apart from the drone itself, includes a launch and recovery system, a ground control segment and exchangeable payloads. The drone has a modular design with a high-wing configuration, while the tail section consists of a tail plane and a vertical stabilizer.

Orlan-10 it can travel at a maximum speed of 175 km / h, and its flight time is approximately 16 hours. The drone is 1.8 m long and has a wingspan of 3.1 m. The drone is designed to perform a variety of missions, including aerial reconnaissance, surveillance, monitoring, search and rescue, combat training, jamming, radio signal detection and target tracking.
