The Netherlands. Media: The killers of investigative journalist de Vries planned to kidnap Prime Minister Mark Rutte
Accused of the murder of the popular investigative journalist Peter R. de Vries, they intended to kidnap Prime Minister Mark Rutte, reported the NU portal, citing information from one of the witnesses.
The Dutch portal has reached the testimony of a witness who claims that Krystian M., accused of ordering the murder of de Vries, told him that there are also plans to kidnap the Dutch prime minister.
Earlier, the newspaper “De Telegraaf” informed about the threat to the head of government. Two months after de Vries’ death, Rutte received additional protection.
Murder of an investigative journalist in Amsterdam
On July 6 last year, de Vries was shot in Amsterdam. The journalist was attacked shortly after he left the RTL4 TV studio. De Vries died on July 15 in an Amsterdam hospital.
Peter R. de Vries was widely known for his uncompromising coverage of the Dutch crime world. He was a popular reporter, often commenting on high-profile criminal trials in the media.
In addition to Krystian M., accused of ordering the murder, 22-year-old Dutchman Delano G. and 36-year-old Pole Kamil E. are accused of the murder of a popular investigative reporter.
