In the era of great popularity of shooters such as Call of Duty, Battlefield, Apex Legends or Overwatch, it would seem that development studios will not surprise enthusiasts of the genre so much. The Embark Studios team takes up the challenge and presents The Finals.
Developers from Embark Studios are currently focusing on at least two free-to-play projects – ARC Raiders, based on cooperation in the fight against murderous robots, has been delayed in favor of quite an interesting proposal.
The Finals is an online free-to-play shooter described in promotional materials as “the biggest free battle show in the world”in which participants compete in arenas inspired by real places. 4 teams of 3 players will take part in the struggle.
As you will see in the material below presenting gameplay fragments in the early version, the shooter has an extensive environment destruction system. Rob Runesson, the studio’s chief creative director and co-founder, is extremely proud of the technology he has developed, which he believes it will bring a breath of fresh air to the process of creating games belonging to the genre. Anyway, the authors focus on a lot of intuitiveness and freedom of the game – not only will we use a variety of weapons, but we will be able to start a fire, destroy buildings, use additional equipment (such as a hook that will help you quickly move around the map).
The Finals can be checked soon – from September 29 to October 3, the first production tests will take place, which are to help the team create the game “together with the community”, and you can sign up on the production subpage on Steam. So far, we have not learned the exact release date of the shooter, but the debut is possible in 2023 – the production will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S and PC.
