Susan Boyle’s participation in “Got Talent” won her life. “It was instant fame”

Susan Boyle is a woman who proved that life is unpredictable. Her changed in just one day. On January 21, 2009, she appeared in Glasgow, auditioning for the British edition ”I have a talent”. When she entered the room, she did not arouse the sympathy of either the audience or the jurors. The then 47-year-old Scot was very neglected. Unpainted, in worn clothes. Nobody expected that she had such a great talent. She was extremely modest and calm.

A moment was enough and it won the hearts of not only experts sitting at the jury table, but the whole world. At the audition, she performed the song “I Dreamed a Dream” from the musical “Les Miserables”. She sang a tremendous success to herself, and a moment later her career took off at lightning speed. “I will never forget that day. Although my merit is that I volunteered and was chosen” – she assured later in her biography.

Hardly anyone knows, but listening to “Got Talent” was not her first attempt at appearing in the music industry. Previously, she recorded demos and sent them to potential publishers. However, no one wanted to sign any contract with her. Eventually she let go and took care of her aging mother.

Susan had problems with concentration and learning since she was a child. Doctors explained her condition with complications during childbirth. It was only in 2013 that she was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome. “Asperger doesn’t define me. It’s a state that I have to live with and work with, and now I feel more at ease with myself. People will have a much better understanding of who I am and why I do the things I do,” she emphasized. The disease began with a brain trauma she experienced in her early childhood. The withdrawn girl was then called “Straight Susan” in the school. It happened that she was harassed and persecuted by friends from the yard.

The performance in “Mam talent” changed absolutely everything. Although she ultimately came in second, she is considered the biggest winner on the show. When she first heard the verdict, she panicked because she didn’t want to go back to her old life. “Then Simon ran onto the stage and whispered in my ear that I had a recording contract guaranteed no matter what,” she said in interviews.

After airing the episode with her participation, she almost immediately received offers from many film and music studios. She was invited to the American talk show hosted by Larry King. Her performance was parodied, for example, by Jay Leno and the creator of the series “South Park”, which emphasized her tremendous success.

Getting used to fame, but it took a while for her to get used to the sudden fame. “The biggest change was the truly instant fame, from being an unknown woman with a cat in Scotland to being recognized wherever I went,” she recalled.

In 2009, Boyle revealed that she had never been kissed. She met her first boyfriend, a Connecticut physician, while touring the United States in 2014. The couple met in Clearwater, Florida, and planned to live together in Scotland. Unfortunately, the relationship did not stand the test of time.

Unfortunately, with the subsequent editions of the show – its glow slowly faded, and each subsequent album sold worse and worse. Which doesn’t mean Boyle is complacent. The singer is still touring and is not going to retire artistically. Her plans were slightly thwarted by the coronavirus pandemic, but the singer plans to return to the interrupted tour soon.
