Dembele agreed to a salary cut. The 25-year-old will now earn EUR 8 million net for the season. The contract also includes bonuses, thanks to which the salary may increase up to EUR 10 million.

The “Sport” daily reports that Dembele’s contract includes an unusual buyout clause. It amounts to EUR 100 million, and if another club decided to pay that much, half of this amount would go to the player himself. Barcelona would earn only 50 million euro on a possible transfer.

For now, however, the Catalans do not assume the departure of the French. The world champion is to be one of the key players in Xavi Hernandez’s team.

The coach of “Barcy” repeatedly emphasized that he is a big fan of Dembele’s talent. Last season, the Frenchman under his leadership made 13 assists in 21 games of the Spanish league.

In total, Dembele has already played 149 games for Barcelona. He recorded 32 goals in them and added 34 opening passes.
