Shopping is skyrocketing. We know which products are the most
If we look at the products researched by UCE Research grouped into 12 basic categories, it turns out that in none of them there has been a decrease in prices. All of them increased with at least two-digit dynamics. The prices of fat products rose the most.
The average year-on-year increase was 26.1%. last month. For comparison, in September it was 24.1 percent, in August 23.7 percent, and in July “only” 18.6 percent.
Shopping becomes more expensive faster than inflation rises
The data published by the Central Statistical Office show that inflation in October 2022 was 17.9%. So why are the prices in stores increasing much more? The indicator published by the Central Statistical Office is the average value of the set basket, which includes consumer products and services, and therefore not only what we buy during weekly shopping.
If we look at the individual categories included in the inflation basket, we will see that the price dynamics observed in stores is much closer to what the Central Statistical Office sees. According to the Office’s data, in October the price of food increased by almost 22 percent.

Significant over 50% increases were also recorded in fats: baking oil and margarine, and sugar. Paper products are also high on the list. Towels went up by almost 43.5 percent, and toilet paper by over 40 percent.
