Russia – Ukraine war. Live broadcast – September 29, 2022

The Russians have already lost 70 percent of their army, I do not see a winning strategy for Putin at the moment, assesses Oleksiy Arestovych, adviser to the head of the Ukrainian President’s Chancellery for strategic communication in the field of national security and defense, in an interview for the daily “Bild” on Thursday.

Putin will probably want to use mobilized soldiers in the occupied territories, but “destroying these forces will not be difficult for us,” argues Arestovych. He estimates that the first wave of mobilization is about 100,000 new soldiers sent to the front a few days after recruitment – poorly equipped and without basic training.

“I think many of them will die. Some of them have already died in the Kharkiv region,” adds President Zelensky’s advisor.

Ukraine is continuing its successful offensive in the areas that Putin wants to annex as a result of pseudo-refends. “We almost surrounded Russian forces there. We also stopped the Russian offensive near Bakhmut,” Arestovych says. He also predicts that Putin will send many soldiers to defend this area.

“(Putin) could give an ultimatum saying that he is defending Russian territory, threatening us with tactical nuclear weapons. But I think this is just a bluff. I think he just wants to improve his bargaining position. They want to scare us and start negotiations” – says the adviser Zelensky. In his opinion, Russian threats to use nuclear weapons “are an information attack, not a real threat.”

As for the new Russian recruits, “dozens” may have died in the last few days. “They are poorly equipped, have no medications and are armed with rusty rifles. They have no training at all, it’s terrible. It’s like sending students to fight a professional boxer” – assessed Arestovych.

“We have destroyed the regular Russian army. Now they want to mobilize the people to defend or attack themselves. The Russians have lost 70 percent of their army, I do not see a winning strategy for Putin,” emphasizes the adviser. Now Putin “will try to defend the annexed territory and threaten us with tactical nuclear weapons. He may try to provoke negotiations by using the nuclear power plant in Zaporizhia or threaten to blow up Ukrainian gas lines, “Arestovych suspects.

“Our president announced today that if Putin annexes our territories, there will be no negotiations. Finito. We will see it on the battlefield” – emphasizes the presidential adviser. As he presumes, the war “will not last longer than the summer of 2023” unless it ends “unexpectedly if something happens in Moscow.”

“We will fight. We will not stop. Mentally we have already won, even (Russian) nuclear weapons cannot stop us” – summed up Arestovych.
