PS5 1440p support, folders coming later this year

PS5 1440p support is finally coming to the console later this year, alongside additional support for folders — perfect for those who like to organize their game libraries.

First, the console will provide support for 1440p TVs and monitors, something offered on the Xbox Series S & X consoles since their launch.

“If the game you’re playing supports 1440p rendering you can experience native 1440p output on your display,” Sony said, “or, if you’re playing a game with a higher native resolution like 4K, then you may benefit from improved anti -aliasing through supersampling down to 1440p output.”

Highly organized players will also be able to take advantage of folders — or gamelists, in Sony speak. Players will be able to create up to 15 gamelists via the Your Collection tab 100 games can be inside each gamelist.

The features are available to beta testers today and are expected for all later in the year; they’re all detailed here.
