PlayStation 5 is getting more expensive. Sony forced to raise prices

Hell has frozen, PlayStation 5 is getting more expensive. Many of you surely know some reasonable advice from friends who always said “don’t buy now, wait until it’s cheaper”. Unfortunately, it turns out that it may be different in the case of PlayStation 5.

Sony decided that the prices of consoles PlayStation 5 will increase. On the official PlayStation.Blog we can read that the reason is the global economic situation. The industry giant underlines the noticeable rise in inflation and states that this is one of the main reasons for the increase in PS5 prices.

Where and how much will PlayStation 5 go?

The recommended retail price will be increased in selected regions, which will not miss the European market. In addition, increases will also appear in the Middle East, Africa (EMEA), Asia and the Pacific (APAC), Latin America (LATAM) and Canada. The increases will miss the USA. The list given in the official announcement indicates that the price in Europe will be as follows:

  • PS5 with drive – 549.99 euros (previously it was approx. 499 euro)
  • PS5 Digital Edition – 449.99 euros (previously it was around 399 euro)

Hard times have come, also for lovers of electronic entertainment. Personally, I remember how a few years after the premiere, consoles were always cheaper, not the other way around. However, that was once … Currently, there are persistent difficulties with the availability of gaming equipment, making consumers happy by offering expensive sets with consoles, as well as high prices of games.

Let me know in the comments what you think about all of this. Have you planned to buy a PS5 in the near future? How much do you feel discouraged by such a EUR 50 increase in the recommended price?
