Anwil, a company from the PKN Orlen capital group, has temporarily suspended the production of nitrogen fertilizers, informed the concern from Płock in a press release. During the shutdown of the production lines, renovation and investment works are to be carried out.

PKN Orlen announced in Tuesday’s announcement that Anwil’s decision was related to “unprecedented and record-breaking growth natural gas prices in Europe”.

“Anwil monitors the situation on the raw materials market on an ongoing basis. As soon as the macroeconomic conditions on the gas market stabilize, production will resume” – it was written. As it was added, Anwil will carry out renovation and investment works during the shutdown of production lines.

PKN Orlen has 100 percent. shares in the share capital of Anwil.

Grupa Azoty’s decision

On Monday evening, Grupa Azoty also announced that the plant for the production of nitrogen fertilizers, caprolactam and polyamide 6 was shut down. In turn, the plants in Puławy reduced the production of ammonia to about 10 percent. production capacity and withheld some production in the plastics and agro segments.

The decision was made in connection with the extraordinary and unprecedented increase in natural gas prices.
