OFFICIAL: Emerson Palmieri has left Chelsea

West Ham United announced Tuesday evening that Emerson Palmieri had been brought in from Chelsea.

West Ham started this season below expectations, because while the defeat against Manchester City was rather calculated, in the clashes with Nottingham Forest and Brighton, it was possible to do something more.

And so the team from the capital has zero points so far and thus closes the league table.

So David Moyes realized that if they want to bounce off the bottom together with their charges, then reinforcements are needed. For this reason, the bringing of a left-back, Emerson Palmieri, has been negotiated for some time.

Although OGC Nice and Olympique Lyon also wanted the Brazilian, he finally decided to agree to the conditions offered by West Ham.

The 28-year-old began medical tests on Monday, and they ended on Tuesday. Apparently they turned out to be successful, because the transaction was completed, and information on this matter appeared in the official media.

The defensor then moves to Chelsea’s Hammers as part of a final transfer, with a deal of £ 13m. On top of that, there may be bonuses in the form of another two million pounds.

His contract, on the other hand, will run until June 30, 2026 and includes an option to extend it for another twelve months.

– I am very happy to be here and to join the new team. This is a big challenge for me because I am joining a really great team and I am happy that we managed to come to an agreement on the transfer. I am ready to help my colleagues achieve their goals – he said.

Emerson Palmieri is a homegrown of Santos, who has also played for AS Roma and Palermo in his career. He joined Chelsea in January 2018, and spent the last months in the colors of Olympique Lyon.

There, in 36 matches, he scored one goal and recorded two assists.
