Lidl’s stores are darker. Tests are ongoing
– At the moment, our stores operate during standard opening hours – reports Business Insider Polska Aleksandra Robaszkiewicz, who is responsible for communication at Lidl Polska.
– However, it is worth noting that we are currently conducting analyzes and tests in reducing energy consumption by reducing the intensity of lighting or turning it off. We conduct all our activities in order to continue to be able to offer our customers high-quality products at a low, attractive price – emphasizes the representative of the well-known chain.
Robaszkiewicz points out that Lidl also focuses on ecological solutions that are to bring specific savings.
– At Lidl Polska facilities, we use ecological solutions, such as heat recovery from cooling devices, used to heat the facility, recuperation, full energy-saving LED lighting – both inside the facility and in the parking lot, together with lighting control aimed at optimizing its consumption. The flagship project, commonly used for many years, is heat pumps as a renewable energy source. All newly built Lidl Polska stores have a photovoltaic installation, and it is additionally installed in existing facilities – tells Business Insider.
The Netto chain has recently announced shortened opening hours. Earlier, he slightly shortened the working hours of supermarkets Kaufland. This network, however, emphasizes that the cause of this was not the energy crisis.
Biedronka has not decided to shorten the working hours yet. “Rising raw material prices and rising electricity prices are a huge challenge for entrepreneurs,” the company admits in an e-mail. However, he points out that instead of limiting hours, it prefers to install solar farms on store roofs. “We currently have about 120 such installations” – says Biedronka.
Hotels and even industrial plants also think about limitations. Adam Abramowicz, spokesman for small and medium-sized enterprises, admitted in an interview with Business Insider that in this crisis it is the largest companies that are in a more difficult situation than the small ones. This is because smaller enterprises are to have a frozen energy price of PLN 785 per MWh. However, large networks cannot count on this.
