Lavrov left the meeting of the UN Security Council. Kuleba: He ran away like Russian soldiers

Putin’s right hand – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov accused the world of Russophobia, and then left the forum of the UN Security Council. “Russian diplomats are fleeing as quickly as Russian soldiers” – commented the head of Ukrainian diplomacy, Dmytro Kuleba, referring to the events at the front in his country.

For the first time since February 24, i.e. since the war broke out in Ukraine, the main players in this conflict – Russia, Ukraine, but also China and the US – had the opportunity to sit together at a round table at the UN Security Council in New York.

Even before the start of the meeting, journalists asked Minister Dmytro Kuleba how he would cope with being in the same room with Siegiej Lavrov. “I’ll keep my social distance,” he replied.

Already at the opening of the meeting, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres condemned Russia’s plans to annex Ukraine’s territory and stated that Russia was guilty of most of the deaths of civilians.

The war in Ukraine has unlimited potential to cause worldwide suffering (…) nuclear war, once unthinkable, has become the subject of debate today, “said Guterres, opening the Thursday meeting.

He stressed that the Russians who bombarded the cities are responsible for the deaths of most civilians in Ukraine. He spoke about executions, rape and torture.

Also, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that reports from Ukraine testify to the systematic committing of crimes by the Russians.

“The entire international order that we are committed to upholding is being torn apart before our eyes. We cannot and will not allow the violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine to get away with President Putin“- said Blinken in his speech.

However, the person who should have heard these words was not present at the time.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov he arrived for the debate 90 minutes late and stayed there only to deliver his speech.

In it, he accused the whole world of Russophobia, and called the Ukrainians Nazis. He said that the West was “pumping weapons into Ukraine” and called the accusations of war crimes against Russia propaganda. He also added that the West became a party to the conflict by supplying Ukraine with weapons and training its soldiers.

After this, he quickly left the meeting of the UN Security Council.

While Lavrov spoke, Dmytro Kuleba was sitting with a stony face a few meters away from him. After the Russian minister left, he said: “I noticed that rOsian diplomats flee as fast as Russian soldiers“.

Then in his emotional speech he declared: “Russia will never be able to kill us all“He showed a blue and yellow band similar to the one found on the wrist of a killed Ukrainian soldier in one of the discovered mass graves in Izium.

He also added that when thousands of Ukrainians returned from abroad to defend the country after the Russian aggression, now thousands of Russians are fleeing from the mobilization announced by Putin.

Kuleba also called on UN countries to exert “maximum pressure” on Russia, to maintain an agreement allowing the export of Ukrainian food. “We cannot allow Russia to resume its world hunger games,” he said.

The only participant in the discussion who justified Russia’s actions – apart from Sergey Lavrov – was the head of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Uladzimir Makei. However, he argued that “Belarus never wanted war” and was not a party to the conflict, as it did not send equipment or soldiers to Ukraine.
