“Mr. Godard has benefited from legal aid in Switzerland in the case of voluntary ‘assisted suicide’ due to multiple disabling pathologies,” explained the family’s legal and tax adviser Patrick Jeanneret.

Godard, 91, died “peacefully” surrounded by his wife Anne-Marie Mieville on Tuesday at his home in the small town of Rolle, Switzerland, the family reported.

It is already known that there will be no official funeral ceremony of the director. Godard will be cremated within two days, and the ashes will remain with the deceased’s wife, it was reported.
