Imran Khan shot. “Assassination attempt” on former Pakistani prime minister

According to Sky News reports, Imran Khan was shot while he was speaking at a rally in the city of Wazirabad. “The producer of Sky News stood close to Khan and saw the moment when the politician was shot,” we read. The Telegraph reports that unidentified shooters opened fire on Khan’s vehicle as it passed through Wazirabad. British daily cites reports of the Pakistani newspaper “Dawn”.

Local media reported that Imran Khan was shot in the leg. Pakistani news channel ARY showed a video showing Khan being carried by the crowd. His leg was bandaged, reports “The Telegraph”. The Spectator Index reports that the suspect in the attack on Khan was shot dead.

“Imran Khan is wounded, may Allah protect him, the whole nation should pray for Imran Khan’s life,” said Farrukh Habib, a politician associated with the Pakistan Justice Movement. It is a Pakistani party founded by Imran Khan in 1996.

“Imran Khan was shot in the leg, but his condition was stable during transport to the hospital. He also waved to supporters,” the Pakistani Movement for Justice reads on Twitter.

Imran Ahmad Khan Niazi is a Pakistani politician and former cricketer. He was the Prime Minister of Pakistan in 2018-2022. In April, he was removed from power as a result of a vote of no confidence. The politician has been agitating for early elections for several days.
