Hubert Hurkacz had a great opening of the season on hard courts in North America. The Pole presented himself very well in Montreal, where he reached the final of the ATP 1000 tournament.
Two weeks before the start of the US Open Grand Slam, the player from Wrocław showed a very good side, but lost in the final in Montreal 6: 3, 3: 6, 3: 6 to the lower-ranked Pablo Carrena Busta. However, the organizers proclaimed the Pole the winner.
Immediately after the final, a graphic with congratulations for the winner appeared on the tournament’s Twitter profile. The person responsible for the preparation of the commemorative graphics confused the tennis players.
“The story of Pablo. Pablo Carenno defeated Hubert Hurkacz 3: 6, 6: 3, 6: 3 and won the first title in the ATP Masters 1000” – read the inscription. The problem is that the photo below shows not a Spaniard, but a Pole.
Hurkacz’s first final defeat
Although the post quickly disappeared, Internet users managed to catch the slip-up and take a screenshot. “And yet, Hubert Hurkacz won” – commented the “From court – tennis information” profile.
For the Spaniard Busty it was the first triumph in the ATP 1000 tournament in his career. In turn, for Hurkacz it was the first defeat in the final of the ATP tournament. Previously, the Pole played in the final five times and won five times.
