Giovani Lo Celso has left Tottenham. Transfer is being finalized

Giovani Lo Celso should soon join the ranks of Villarreal on loan from Tottenham – said Matteo Moretto and Fabrizio Romano.

The central midfielder joined the London club from Betis in August 2019. First, on the basis of a paid loan for 16 million euros, and then definitely after transferring another 32 million euros to the account of the team from Seville.

However, the investment made by representatives of “Koguty” did not turn out to be successful. Lo Celso initially performed quite decently on the English grounds, but later cut down enough that he lost confidence in manager José Mourinho’s eyes and did not regain it with Nuno Espírito Santo and Antonio Conte.

For this reason, he was on loan to Villarreal last winter, where he showed himself so well that the authorities of the LaLiga team wanted to extend his cooperation with him.

The “yellow submarine” could not afford the final transfer of the 26-year-old player. It therefore held talks with Tottenham to agree on the terms of the midfielder’s next temporary move.

Both clubs did not encounter significant problems in this field, but the team led by Unai Emery could not afford to register Lo Celso at some point. And this fact Fiorentina tried to take advantage of. Fortunately, the club from the Iberian Peninsula has dealt with the problem and has already entered the stage of finalizing the Argentinean loan.

The former player of Rosario Central or Paris Saint-Germain is already in Vila-real, where, after passing medical tests, he will sign an appropriate agreement with the “Yellow Submarine”.

Under the conditions, he will go to Villarreal without the buyout option, but Tottenham has guaranteed himself the right to shorten his stay in Spain if he receives a satisfactory offer for him in the winter, guaranteeing his final sale.

Lo Celso is associated with “The Roosters” until June 30, 2025.

Last season he played in 40 games (19 for Tottenham and 21 for Villarreal), scoring two goals and three assists.
