Former rivals Volkanovski and Holloway react to the end of Jose Aldo’s MMA adventure

Former rivals of Jose Aldo, Alexander Volkanovski and Max Hollowayresponded to the retirement of a former UFC featherweight champion.

Yesterday, there was information officially confirming the end of the adventure with MMA, former dominator of the featherweight category, Jose Aldo. The Brazilian, after losing in August this year in the UFC octagon with Merab Dvalishvili, admitted that he did not intend to return to the MMA cage. Now that this information has been officially confirmed, his former rivals Alex Volkanovski and Max Holloway have reacted to Aldo’s decision. Interestingly, the UFC up to 66 kilogram champion Volkanovski admitted that the Brazilian was the best fighter in the history of this weight class.

I wish you all the best to the best featherweight ever, Jose Aldo.

King of Rio de Janeiro! What a career, brother! Have fun retirement. Eat acai with nuts and drink milk for me.

Aldo has faced Holloway twice in the past and lost both fights. The duels took place in 2017. “Blessed” won twice with the Brazilian via KO / TKO in the third round. As for Aldo’s rivalry with Volkanovski, the Australian had the opportunity to fight the Brazilian at UFC 237. At stake was not the UFC championship belt. After three rounds, Alex won the referee’s decision, and after winning against Aldo, he was given a chance to win the UFC championship. He succeeded when he defeated Max Holloway at UFC 245.

The future of the former Brazilian UFC featherweight champion is unclear. In the past, the 36-year-old has often confirmed his interest in potential boxing starts. Perhaps this is where we will see his next fights.
