FC Barcelona: Xavi presses for midfielder transfer. Time is running out

Coach Xavi is putting pressure on the Barcelona authorities to move on to concrete measures to recruit Martín Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, “Sport” informs.

Sergio Busquets admitted not so long ago that he has not yet made any binding decision for the near future and therefore the topic of his staying at Camp Nou for another year is still open.

Nevertheless, the Spanish media have no doubts that the coming months will be the last of the 34-year-old footballer in the colors of the Catalan Duma.

This is evidenced, among others, by the news of Barcelona’s frantic search for a new defensive midfielder who would patch the hole in the team after the departure of an experienced player.

Recently, there has been a lot of talk about the action of Martín Zubimendi from Real Sociedad standing high in the award-winning club.

The Basque Country team reacted immediately to this information and aims to extend the cooperation with the 23-year-old on better financial terms for him, while increasing the buyout clause from 60 to 90 million euros.

The player himself is interested in signing a new contract, but would prefer the amount that allows him to leave the club to remain at the current level. The team from San Sebastián will seek to change the attitude of the player and hope to achieve full success in this field.

This news worries Xavi. For this reason, the coach of the “Duma of Catalonia” began to put pressure on the team’s authorities to move on to concrete actions in the case of Zubimendi.

The defensive midfielder has appeared in seven games during the current season, noting assists.

A native of San Sebastián, Zubimendi is a homegrown of Real Sociedad and made his debut in his first team in 2019.
