An ammunition depot exploded in the north of Crimea, the Russian news agency TASS reported on Tuesday, citing the administration of the Mayskoye settlement.
According to Liveuamap, two people were injured as a result of the explosion. The population within 5 km was evacuated.
“A Russian military unit is burning in the Jankoj region in the occupied Crimea,” said the chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars Refat Chubarov. “An ammunition was hit in an orc military unit (Russians – ed.) In the village of Kalay (now Azov) in the Jankoy region” – wrote Chubarov on Facebook. “The sounds of the explosion spread over the steppe,” he added.
Earlier on Tuesday, RIA Novosti reported a fire at a transformer substation near the city of Jankoye in the Crimea.
The advisor to the president of Ukraine, Mykhailo Podolak, referred to the explosion in Crimea. “The morning near Jankoye began with explosions. Reminder: The Crimea of a normal country is the Black Sea, mountains, recreation and tourism, but Crimea is occupied by the Russians, there are explosions of warehouses and a high risk of death for invaders and thieves. Demilitarization in action,” he wrote.
