The chairman of the Crimean Tatar Mejlis, Refat Chubarov, announced that an unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) had hit the roof of the headquarters building of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol in the annexed Crimea. There were explosions in the area. The Russian administration says there are no fatalities.
“There are reports from Sevastopol that an unmanned aerial vehicle flew into the roof of the headquarters building of the Russian Black Sea Fleet,” wrote Chubarov on Facebook. He added that there was a strong explosion in the area of the headquarters on Saturday morning. Chubarov’s comments were provided by the Ukrinform agency.
Earlier, video recordings from Sevastopol appeared on social media, on which you can see puffs of smoke. Ukrinform, referring to these recordings, estimates that the Russian anti-aircraft defense hit the camera during the attempts to shoot it down.
Chubarov wrote that the Russian administration of Crimea reported that the drone had not been knocked down. He reserved that he was waiting for confirmation from independent sources.
The Russian administration also said that no one was hurt in the incident, no casualties.
