The European Athletics Championships began on Monday in Munich. The Polish champion Piotr Tarkowski, who took part in the long jump qualifying round, was one of the first to appear at the local Olympic stadium.
The 23-year-old came to Germany with great desire for a good performance in the final, although he was not indicated as a candidate for the podium. In the first qualifying jump, the Pole achieved over 8 meters, but unfortunately it was an attempt to be offside.
However, this was not the most important thing. Tarkowski landed badly and grabbed his ankle, and his screams of pain could be heard all over the stadium. The Polish representative was not able to leave the hill on his own and had to be lifted on a stretcher.
It is not known what exactly happened to Tarkowski. Before the start of the championships, the Pole complained of an ankle injury. It is known that for the 23-year-old this is the end of the ongoing championship.
