On Thursday in Lviv a meeting of the UN Secretary General with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and the Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan took place. According to the plan, the subject of the talks was to include the tense situation around the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant, occupied from the beginning of March by Russian troops. Guterres recently called for an end to military operations around this facility. On Friday, Guterres is due to travel to Odessa and then to Turkey.
– The visit of the Turkish president is a strong signal of support from a strong country – President Volodymyr Zelensky said after talks with Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The topics of the meeting included Ukrainian grain exports, Russia’s nuclear blackmail and bilateral military cooperation.
“We paid special attention to the topic of Russia’s nuclear blackmail in the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant. This deliberate terror by the aggressor may have global, catastrophic consequences for the entire world. Therefore, the UN must ensure the security of the strategic facility, its demilitarization and complete liberation from Russian troops” – said the president Ukraine after meeting Antonio Guterres.
Russia is preparing a provocation on August 19 Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant. Employees were told not to come to work that day, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (HUR) informed on Thursday.
“The occupiers announced an unexpected” day off “at the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant. On August 19, only operational personnel will be there. The entrance will be closed to all other employees. It is also known that representatives of the Russian company Rosatom, who have recently been constantly at the station, have left the site “- reported HUR.
At the same time, the interview said that the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced an alleged preparation of a “terrorist act” by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It was reported that during the visit of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, a loud provocation is being prepared to accuse the Russian Federation of a technical disaster. As expected, the Russians accuse the Ukrainian authorities of preparing a terrorist act, the interview writes.
The information obtained by HUR also shows that after the shelling of the nuclear power plant, the Russians could “raise the stakes” and commit a real terrorist act at the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. In addition, they want to combine this crime with the visit of the UN Secretary General to Ukraine, we read in a communiqué by Ukrainian military intelligence.
The Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant in southern Ukraine – the largest in Europe – was seized by Russian forces on the night of March 3-4. Russian soldiers and employees of the Russian Rosatom concern are stationed on the premises of the facility. Ukrainian station employees are – according to media reports – being killedand Russian soldiers are shooting at the power plant, posing a serious risk of a nuclear catastrophe.
