In its report, the federal government distinguishes three groups of homeless people. Persons accommodated under emergency housing assistance – this includes approximately 178,000. people; the hidden homeless, i.e. people who, for example, find accommodation with friends or acquaintances – this group included 49,000 people; people on the street and in makeshift shelters – this applies to 37 thousand. people – writes the portal of the weekly “Spiegel”.
All in all it would be over 264 thousand homeless, but if you take into account possible double counting and minors living with their parents, the final figure is about 262,000. 600 homeless. Nearly two-thirds of homeless people are men and 35 percent are women.

The goal of the German government is to fight homelessness and eliminate it completely by 2030. In its report, the government presents a comprehensive overview of the situation of people affected by homelessness, and together with all interested parties, it will develop and adopt a National Action Plan on homelessness in the coming year, said Klara, Minister of Construction Geywitz, quoted by “Spiegel”. The second report is due in 2024.
