Disaster in Russia. MiG-31 crashed

According to Russian media, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation confirmed the information. The accident occurred during a training flight. Rescue helicopters were sent to the scene.

The MiG-31 crashed right after take-off in a forest near the village of Alekseyevka. He was flying without ammunition. The accident in a remote place did not cause any damage. There are also no casualties. According to preliminary information, the cause of the disaster may have been a technical fault.

A video has surfaced online showing smoke billowing from the likely site of the accident.

The capital of Primorsky Krai in the far east of Russia is Vladivostok.

At least six Russian military planes have crashed since September due to technical faults. Four of them are fighters used in the invasion of Ukraine, the Jerusalem Post reported on Tuesday. Analysts point to the connection between the accidents and Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

Some analysts they are trying to blame the ongoing war in Ukrainebut that doesn’t explain plane crashes far from the front lines.

More information under the video:

According to Michael Bohnert, an expert at the American think tank RAND Corporation, the reason for the recent catastrophes may be the consequences of Western sanctions against Russia, which make it increasingly difficult for Russians to obtain spare parts and equipment necessary for ongoing maintenance of aircraft.

According to Paul Schwartz, an expert at another American think tank, the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), there is “a clear link between the increased pace of military operations undertaken over the past year and a half and the increased number of military aircraft accidents.” He believes that over-exploitation is behind the plane crashes of Russian planes.
