According to Los Angeles, California police, the 36-year-old was at a marked crosswalk when he was suddenly hit by a drunk Lexus driver traveling the wrong way on a one-way road.
“It literally threw him up in the air,” the officers describe.
Jonathan Gales could not be saved. In addition to him, another person was injured in the accident. The driver of the Lexus tried to flee the scene, but first collided head-on with another vehicle and was then stopped by witnesses of the tragedy. Currently, the 39-year-old perpetrator of the accident is in custody.

In 2020, Jonathan Gales won the prestigious BAFTA (British Academy Award) for his work. The jury appreciated his trailer of the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
“He was a caring, considerate and loving husband and father. He had an energetic personality and was fascinated by the world’s cultural heritage. He had many, many friends who, along with his immediate and extended family, will miss him terribly,” said Jonathan’s father James.
