Already noted 2,120 reports on bank activities regarding credit holidays – the press office of the Financial Ombudsman (RF) announced on Thursday. In this case asked the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) to investigate the matter.
As part of the monitoring of the implementation of the Act on Credit Holidays, from July 28, 2022, the Office of the Financial Ombudsman noted the actions of banks that may be treated as inconsistent with applicable regulations. The reservations concern mainly the criteria for qualifying customers to take advantage of the “credit holidays” and the rules for applying for deferment of installments.
“It should be emphasized that currently the Financial Ombudsman does not have sufficient data allowing for a full assessment of the banks’ activities in these matters, because possible applications to the Ombudsman regarding the refusal to grant” credit holidays “will most likely be received by the Financial Ombudsman’s Office only after customers have exhausted the complaint procedure in a given bank that according to the regulations considers the complaint and provides the customer with a reply without undue delay, but not later than within 30 days from the date of receipt“- we read in the release.
