COPE: Rodrygo obtained Spanish citizenship

Rodrygo Goes can already feel like a full-fledged citizen of Spain. The Brazilian finally received a Spanish passport, which he had to wait a lot longer for due to the pandemic and the mess in the Ministry of Justice, which had 300,000 applications for citizenship to process, all handled by around 30 officials.

Finally, however, it is time for Rodrygo, who has passed the relevant exams some time ago and was waiting for the application to be considered, informs Miguel Ángel Díaz from Cadena COPE. Éder Militão was in a similar situation, but the Kings’ center-back is still waiting for a decision on his citizenship and is currently the only player to play in the squad Los Blancos a place for a footballer from outside the European Union as Vinicius Junior received his Spanish passport in early September this year.

Brazilians could apply after two years of permanent residence in the country, and prior to the outbreak of the pandemic, the citizenship process took several months. Rodrygo on the Iberian Peninsula registered in July 2019 and had it not been for the pandemic and chaos prevailing in the Ministry of Justice, he could have already enjoyed dual citizenship, which he received after well over three years spent in Spain.
