In 2014, Brian Kozera was diagnosed with the so-called Hodgkin’s lymphoma (blood cancer), and the man had to undergo a bone marrow transplant or as many as 16 cycles of chemotherapy. The American won fight with cancer a year later, which gave him an impetus to start training in triathlon. At first, Kozera competed locally in Philadelphia, but then tried his hand outside borders USA. This year Kozera wanted to compete in the Ironman World Championship, which will be held in Hawaii in October.

TMZ Sports reported that Brian Kozera had an accident in Saturday On August 13, around 9:45 a.m. local time. The American ran a stop sign during training in Caernarvon Township and hit the car from the passenger side. Kozera, under the influence of the force of the impact, fell under the rear wheel, and the injuries turned out to be so serious that the man later died in the hospital at 10:51. The 44-year-old orphaned three daughters and left his wife.
Brian Kozera was previously an officer in the Norristown Police Department. “We received the tragic news that one of our veterans, Brian Kozera, died as a result of his injuries in an accident. We pray for your family and friends at this difficult time,” the police wrote on Twitter. “Brian was bigger than life and always gave 100 percent of whatever he did in life. The family was at the center of his universe. It was impossible to find a more devoted husband and father,” the obituary reads.
Brian Kozera competed in six Ironmans in total, and the October competition in Hawaii (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) was to be his seventh championship. The American planned to start in three more events.
