Since the beginning of this week, the Ukrainian army has destroyed seven ammunition warehouses in the Russian army, a spokeswoman for the Ukrainian operational command “Południe” Natalia Humeniuk said on Thursday on radio Svoboda, Ukrinform reports.
Ammunition stores are one of the priority targets of our artillery and aircraft, as they are the supplies that the enemy intends to use against our units. Despite the fact that they are trying to disperse these stocks, they already know that our interventions are accurate and ruthlessly targeted, we are still finding new dislocation sites and destroying them – said Natalia Humeniuk.
“I don’t think it’s over, the week is not over yet,” she added.
The Apostolic Nuncio from Lithuania was invited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in connection with the statement of the Pope, who during the general audience on Wednesday referred to the death of Daria Dugina, daughters and associates of the adviser to the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, Alexander Dugin. He is an ideologist of Russian imperialism and a supporter of the invasion of Ukraine. His daughter also supported this aggression. Dugina died in a car explosion in Moscow.
During an audience on Ukraine’s Independence Day, which was attended by a group of children from that country and their guardians, the Pope said, among other things: “I am thinking of that poor girl who was blown up by a bomb under the car seat in Moscow.”
Then he added, “The innocent pay for the war, the innocent. Let’s think about this reality.”
Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, told journalists in Kiev: – We carefully read the entire quote from Pope Francis and, first of all, we decided to invite an apostolic nuncio to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to express Ukraine’s disappointment with these words. And secondly, let me say it frankly, the Ukrainian heart is torn at the words of the Pope. It was unfair.
More details were provided by the Ukrainian embassy to the Holy See. She quoted the following words from Minister Kuleba: “Ukraine is deeply disappointed with the Pope’s words that wrongly juxtapose the aggressor and the victim.”
The head of diplomacy noted that Pope Francis referred “in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian war to the death of a Russian citizen on Russian territory, with whom Ukraine has nothing to do.”
