Lucas Paquetá is already one foot in the Premier League’s West Ham.
According to Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth, West Ham came to an agreement with Olympique Lyonnais on the transfer of Lucas Paqueta. The same information was provided by David Ornstein, hinting that the player himself also reached a consensus with “Hammers” regarding the individual conditions. A five-year contract is involved. Now the clubs have to go to the paperwork.
The transfer amount has yet to be confirmed, but Sheth said Lyon is expecting around € 60 million for Paqueta. On the way, he rejected two proposals from West Ham.
24-year-old Paquetá will leave Lyon after two years of playing for the club. During this time, the Brazilian attacking midfielder played 80 games while wearing his jersey. In the next two seasons, he scored nine goals and a similar number of assists (five and six).
Paqueta’s move to England comes as no surprise. Previously, Arsenal, Manchester City and Newcastle United looked towards the player. In the case of “The Citizens” a transfer would become much more likely after the departure of Bernardo Silva, who is still on Etihad.
