Act limiting the amount of electricity prices adopted by the Sejm

The Sejm adopted an act limiting the amount of electricity prices. The act will introduce protection for public utility entities and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises against a drastic increase in electricity bills.

Protection against high energy prices. Large companies without support

This will be achieved by the introduction of a maximum electricity price mechanism for settlements with customers authorized by energy sellers, not higher than:

• 693 PLN / MWh for households;
• 785 PLN / MWh for other eligible customers.

The maximum price will be used by sellers in settlements with:

• households – from the moment exceeding consumption limits until December 31, 2023;
• public utility entities and local governments – from February 24, 2022 to December 31, 2023;
• small and medium-sized entrepreneurs – from February 24, 2022 to December 31, 2023

Protection for households, businesses and vulnerable entities

The sensitive entities include public utility entities, incl. – hospitals and clinics, social welfare centers, schools, kindergartens, nurseries and universities, churches or other religious associations, 24-hour care facilities for the disabled, sick or elderly, family nursing homes, water supply, public transport, sewage, street lighting, cultural institutions, physical culture institutions, including swimming pools, trade unions, animal shelters.

Electricity trading companies, i.e. eligible entities will be entitled to compensation paid by the Settlement Administrator through the Price Difference Payment Fund.
