At least 16 people were killed and 21 injured in an accident in the province of Gaziantep in southern Turkey. The bus hit the emergency services vehicles and the car of one of the Turkish news agency.
The incident took place this morning, around 9:45 Polish time, in the Nizip city area, on the highway connecting the cities of Tars, Adana and Gaziantep.
As reported by the Turkish state Turkish news agency Anadolu, a bus going from Istanbul to Diyarbakır in the southeast of the country hit emergency vehicles and the car of the İhlas News Agency.
According to the latest information, at least 16 people lost their lives, including three firefighters, four paramedics and two journalists from the İhlas News Agency. The other victims are the bus passengers. 21 people were injured.
Numerous police and rescue forces were involved in the rescue operation. The governor of Gaziantep, Davut Gül, also went to the scene of the accident.
The head of the Turkish Ministry of the Interior, Süleyman Soylu, expressed his regret over the victims of the accident in a Twitter post and at the same time wished the injured a quick recovery.
