A scandal with the participation of the jury “Got talent!”. David Walliams was supposed to insult the participants
David Walliams’ comments were made while recording the British edition of the program “I have a talent!”. Walliams, who viewers associate with an often coarse sense of humor, had to go through himself in the studio. The words that “surfaced” fell during the overdub of the so-called fillers for the program, during which the judges, often very frankly, talk about the participants.
Walliams was said to be outrageous, especially in two cases. One of the situations involved a 2020 recording where one of the older program participants got into jokes with the jurors – harmless, downright gentle, as “The Guardian” describes – and uttered a slight spite at Walliams. The participant, referred to in the British medium as “senior”, left the stage after an unsuccessful audition, and as soon as he was out of earshot, Walliams called him “c * pa” three times.
Walliam’s lawyers defended him, claiming that the words were not intended for broadcast and were made as a private comment.
The second situation took place shortly after – the participant, who also joined the British “Got Talent!”, Left the stage after the show. The microphones picked up that Walliams described her “similar to the boring girls you meet in the pub who want you to sleep with them, but you don’t feel like it.”
Walliams made a statement and apologized for his behavior. “These were private conversations and, as is the case with friends, they were not meant to be made public,” he added.
It is not known yet whether Walliams will remain as a juror on one of the most popular shows on British television.
