A little surprise in the WTA Finals doubles final. The favorites did not defend the title

Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova were favorites of the WTA Finals doubles final held in Texas. They won the title last year, and only six pairs in history have managed to defend it. However, Czech women will not join this group. They were able to win only the second game, beating Weronika Kudiermietowa and Elise Mertens 2: 6, 6: 4, 9:11.

The meeting lasted a total of one hour and 44 minutes. Our southern neighbors’ players lost their opening two game games at the beginning, which decided the fate of the first set. In the second game they lost the service and were already losing 3: 4, but at the last moment they broke the Russian and Belgian players twice in a row, which made it possible to reverse the result and bring them to a level throughout the game.

The victory was determined by the super tie-break, in which Krejcikova and Siniakov, seeded with number one, were already leading 7: 2, but in the end they lost decisive exchanges and lost 9:11.

Kudiermietowa and Mertens received an award of $ 250,000.
