A hefty penalty for a heat pump or air conditioner. There are also rules about prison
A grocery store owner on the ground floor of a block of flats had to explain himself to a court because of the improper use of an air conditioner. As it turns out, the man was strongly affected by the neighbors who decided report him to the police.
It was about too much noise generated in this case by the air conditioning unit. The Code of Petty Offenses (Art. 51 par. 1) says: “who shouts, noisedisturbs the peace, public order, night rest or causes scandal in a public place, is subject to the penalty of arrest, restriction of liberty or a fine. a severe fine – up to PLN 5,000 (the range starts at PLN 20) – although it is worth remembering about court costs. We can also receive a penalty of 30 days of restriction of liberty.
With this device, you can check how much noise the heat pump emits – during the day and at night
There are a whole range of devices that generate a lot of noise. Among them, in addition to the air conditioner, there is also a heat pump. Poles are more and more willing to equip their homes with this. Nothing unusual. “By installing photovoltaic panels and a heat pump, you can save about PLN 10,000 annually on heating” – explained Paweł Mirowski, vice president of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in an interview with PAP.
A poorly installed heat pump or a defective unit can generate too much noise, so replacement or repair must be done as soon as possible to avoid a penalty. Earlier, you can check with a special device – a noise meter (cost from about PLN 75 on Allegro) – whether the number of decibels does not exceed the permissible limit. “On the border of the property, in single-family housing, the maximum noise level during the day may not be higher than 50 dB, and at night – not higher than 40 dB” – explains “Computer World”.
